Matthew Papadopoulos is a Partner at Summit Point CPAs, specializing in business and individual taxation, strategic tax planning, entity structuring, and the tax implications of business acquisitions and sales. He also leads Business Development for the firm, helping clients and prospective clients identify opportunities, navigate complex transactions, and make informed decisions that support their long-term business and financial goals.
A licensed CPA in New York State, Matt has particular expertise in real estate taxation and transactions, including Section 1031 exchanges, entity structuring, and strategic tax planning. He also works closely with buyers and sellers on business acquisitions and sales, helping them understand the tax implications of a transaction and evaluate strategies designed to minimize the overall tax impact.
Matt’s approach begins with understanding where a client ultimately wants to go. Whether that means scaling a startup, growing an established company, investing in real estate, completing an acquisition, or preparing for the eventual sale or transition of a business, he believes the best planning happens well before the transaction or decision itself.
That philosophy has shaped Matt’s own professional journey. After graduating from St. Joseph’s College in 2008, he began his career with leading mid-sized accounting firms, including CohnReznick and Mazars, where he developed a strong foundation in tax and advisory services. In 2018, he began an entrepreneurial chapter of his career, combining his technical accounting and tax experience with his passion for building businesses, developing client relationships, and creating long-term growth.
Between 2021 and 2024, Matt successfully led the acquisition and integration of five boutique CPA firms, expanding the firm’s client base, capabilities, and market presence while maintaining a strong emphasis on continuity of service and client relationships.
Although Matt has spent most of his professional career as a CPA, he considers himself an entrepreneur at heart. That perspective influences the way he works with business owners. He understands that decisions are rarely made based on tax considerations alone and encourages clients to consider the bigger picture and the long-term implications of the choices they make today.
For Matt, the strongest client relationships are built on responsiveness, loyalty, mutual respect, and honest communication. His goal is to develop long-term partnerships in which clients feel comfortable involving their advisor before significant financial and business decisions are made, rather than after the fact.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys weightlifting and spending time with his 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter. An avid sports fan, he also follows the NBA and UFC.
Strategic Thinking. Trusted Guidance.
“Strategic thinking means looking beyond the immediate issue and understanding how the decisions a client makes today can impact their opportunities tomorrow. Trusted guidance comes from building long-term relationships and understanding where a client wants to go so we can help them get there.”
Moises Sa is a Partner at Summit Point CPAs, working with businesses, individuals, and high-net-worth clients to provide tax planning, business strategy, and guidance designed to help them make informed financial decisions. He has particular experience working with restaurants, real estate businesses and investors, and professional service firms.
Moises believes the greatest value a CPA can provide often comes from being involved before an important decision is made. Rather than simply responding to issues after they arise, he works closely with clients throughout the year to understand how their businesses and financial situations are evolving, identify potential tax implications, and plan for what may be ahead.
His goal is to become a strategic partner in a client’s success, not simply a provider of tax and accounting services. Whether a client is facing a tax question, evaluating a business decision, or encountering an issue outside the traditional scope of accounting, Moises takes pride in providing guidance and, when appropriate, helping connect clients with the right professionals and resources to move forward.
A graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, Moises began his career with boutique accounting firm Cohen Greve & Company before joining Mazars USA, where he gained experience within a larger, mid-sized accounting environment. In 2019, he joined Matthew Papadopoulos at Alessandro & Associates, beginning a new chapter focused on building and growing an accounting practice.
In 2021, Moises and Matthew acquired the Alessandro & Associates tax practice and joined Summit Point CPAs. In the years that followed, Moises played an integral role in bringing together several CPA practices, transitioning long-standing client relationships, and helping senior partners successfully move toward retirement. That experience helped shape his belief that accounting is ultimately a relationship business built on trust, continuity, and responsiveness.
Today, Moises brings that same perspective to his relationships at Summit Point CPAs. He encourages clients to be proactive rather than reactive, particularly when it comes to tax and business planning. By looking at performance throughout the year and maintaining an open dialogue, he believes clients and their advisors are better positioned to anticipate potential issues, evaluate opportunities, and make decisions with greater confidence.
A Certified Public Accountant who also holds a Master of Business Administration, Moises describes himself as dedicated, hardworking, and responsive. He believes the strongest client relationships share those same qualities, along with mutual trust, respect, and professionalism.
Outside the office, Moises enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, and their three children, Liam, Theo, and Monroe. An avid soccer player, he hopes his knees allow him to keep playing for many years to come. He also enjoys golf, cycling, and spending weekends on the sidelines watching his children play soccer. Proud of his Portuguese heritage, Moises tries to return to Portugal each year to spend time with his extended family.

“Being strategic means thinking ahead and identifying potential issues before they become problems. By working together as a team with our clients, we can provide the guidance they need to make informed decisions and help position them for continued success.”
Brian Mayhew is a Partner at Summit Point CPAs, where he works primarily with small business owners, helping them better understand their financial picture and make decisions that support long-term growth.
Brian’s approach is grounded in practical advice, perspective, and mutual respect. He believes business owners are most effective when they stay focused on what they do best and build the right support around them. One piece of advice he frequently shares with clients is to focus on their strengths and delegate nonessential tasks whenever possible, allowing them to devote more energy to the areas where they can create the greatest impact.
His own professional journey reflects that willingness to adapt and move forward. Brian earned his first college degree in Actuarial Science and spent eight years working for a fast-growing third-party pension administrator. When the company was acquired and his office subsequently closed, Brian used the transition as an opportunity to change direction. He returned to school to study accounting, completed an internship, and joined Summit Point CPAs. After earning his CPA designation, he continued advancing within the firm and ultimately achieved one of his proudest professional milestones: becoming a partner.
Today, Brian enjoys working with businesses across a variety of industries and helping owners look beyond the numbers themselves. For him, accounting is most valuable when it creates insight that can be used to strengthen the business and plan for future success.
Outside the office, Brian enjoys exercising, spending time with friends, and watching football. He approaches both his professional and personal life with a positive attitude and a belief in continuing to move forward when circumstances change.

“We are more than professionals who enter numbers into a computer. We look at a client’s total financial situation and provide advice designed to help position them for future success.”
Robert Pokorny is a Partner at Summit Point CPAs specializing in financial statement services, including audits, reviews, and compilations. He works with clients across a variety of industries, with particular experience serving construction companies, restaurant and franchise owners, real estate businesses, and distribution companies.
Robert believes the greatest value an advisor can provide often comes before an important decision is made. He encourages clients to plan ahead and communicate throughout the year rather than waiting until a financial or tax issue leaves little opportunity to act. By maintaining an ongoing dialogue, Robert helps clients better understand their financial position, evaluate their options, and make informed decisions that benefit both their businesses and their personal financial lives.
His relationship with the firm began immediately after college, when he started his accounting career at Summit Point CPAs. Robert later joined Citrin Cooperman, where he gained additional experience working within a larger accounting firm. When the opportunity arose to return to the firm and become part of its next chapter, he was excited to come back and continue building on the relationships and experience that helped shape his career.
For Robert, one of the most rewarding measures of professional success is earning a client’s trust. He takes particular pride in helping clients navigate difficult situations and developing relationships in which they feel comfortable turning to him first when an important financial or business issue arises. That approach reflects the three qualities Robert strives to bring to every relationship: trustworthiness, reliability, and responsiveness.
Outside the office, Robert enjoys bowling, golfing, and coaching his sons’ baseball teams.

“Plan ahead and communicate often. Ongoing conversations give us the opportunity to identify issues, consider options, and help clients make informed decisions before it’s too late to plan.”
Alfred Rizzo is a Partner at Summit Point CPAs with decades of experience advising individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations on a wide range of tax matters. His areas of experience include personal and business taxation, multi-state tax matters, estates and trusts, and tax planning, with particular expertise in estate and trust planning.
Throughout his career, Alfred has worked with professionals, construction and manufacturing companies, and small businesses. While every client presents different circumstances, his approach begins in the same place: getting to know the person behind the numbers.
Alfred believes that understanding a client’s goals, concerns, personality, and financial circumstances is essential to providing meaningful advice. That knowledge allows him to look ahead, identify potential issues before they arise, and develop planning strategies designed to help clients achieve the best possible tax outcomes.
That relationship-driven philosophy has been a constant throughout Alfred’s career. In fact, the professional accomplishment he values most isn’t a title or credential. It’s the client relationships he has maintained for more than 40 years.
Alfred’s own history is closely connected to the history of the firm. He began college as a mathematics major before discovering an interest in accounting and ultimately earning his bachelor’s degree in the field. While still attending college, he began working for Bruce Meyer, one of the original partners of what would eventually become BMKR, now Summit Point CPAs.
After becoming a CPA in the late 1980s, Alfred became a partner at Meyer & Meyer. The firm later became Meyer & Rizzo before merging with Blanchfield & Kober to form BMKR. Alfred remained with the firm throughout those chapters and today continues serving clients as part of Summit Point CPAs.
For Alfred, the firm’s evolution may have brought new names over the years, but the principles behind a strong client relationship have remained remarkably consistent. Planning ahead, anticipating potential problems, understanding the client, and earning their trust have guided the way he has practiced throughout his career.
Outside the office, Alfred enjoys spending time at the beach and with family and friends. He has interests in science, history, and finance, and he’s looking forward to finding a little more time for golf in the years ahead. Alfred describes himself as happy, patient, and very blessed, a perspective shaped in no small part by the relationships he’s developed throughout his life and career.

“That’s the way I’ve always operated. The best client relationships and the best outcomes begin with truly knowing your client, planning ahead, and providing guidance they can trust.”
